US glam metal heads Babylon AD hail from an era in which the image was as important as the music. 25 years on, the image part is not a factor anymore, at least in this genre and certainly with these guys now sporting mostly short haircuts. Much to my delight, from opener ‘Back to Babylon’ I witnessed a hungry band whose musical talent was still intact.

In contrast to the previous act, the volume was very loud and over the edge at times, but this original line-up, making their European debut, played very tight and with the necessary heart and passion. Never quite having left the music scene, the Bay Area rockers recently released a new EP, but most songs obviously came from their grandiose self-titled debut album, including ‘Hammer Swings Down’, ‘Maryanne’ and the superb ‘Bang Go The Bells’.
